Been a while since I have been in this blog.

I have switched to brewing all-grain. I found a couple of 5 gallon igloo drink coolers and modified them per a DIY forum post on HomeBrewTalk.com. I received a false bottom as a xmas gift last year and assembled my mash tun. I also have a matching HLT. The only problem is that due to the size, (only 5 gallon), I can not brew anything that has more than 13-14 pounds of grain in the bill. You just can't get that much grain and the corresponding amount of water in the container.

I have since purchased a 10 gallon orange Rubbermaid cooler and modified it for a mash tun. I have not tested this new mash tun yet as I have been finishing up several other brewing efforts.

Currently, I have on-tap a nice American Pale Ale similar to Sierra Nevada. If I went back to the recipe, I could probably get it closer with some adjustments.

I have a batch of Czech pilsner (yes a lager) fermenting down in the basement. I plan on moving it this week (probably Tuesday) to do a diacytal rest for a couple of day. I will then rack it to secondary a plunge it into my old refrigerator that I kept just for this purpose. After about 3 weeks at 36 degrees, it should be ready to keg.
